Give Him Praise!

The world around us is amazingly complex and beautiful. It is a canvas dynamically expressing the creative power of God. Many philosophers, even the skeptical, have debated the meaning of our ability to observe that the universe is fine tuned in such a delicate way to support life. Fine tuning implies intelligence, intentionality and the ability to create and influence physics. In other words, a powerful, external designer. Some philosophers, in response to the principle of cause and effect, have proposed that there has to be an always existant initial cause. This is sometimes referred to as the unmoved mover.

The word of God informs us that the God of the Bible is the unmoved Mover, the creator of the heavens and the earth. It is a testimony to his creative power.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

-Colossians 1:16-17 ESV

And in Him all things hold together . . . it is the will of God that defines even the laws of physics! This is to His glory, in the words of the psalmist:

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

-Psalm 19:1 ESV

In light of this, the Apostle Paul reminds us that we are without excuse in recognizing and following God.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

-Romans 1:20 ESV

What can we give God, who created everything? Our hearts and our praise! Take a moment, as you read these words, to reflect on His awesome power, wonderful grace and enduring love for us. He is worthy of our praise!
